DEPUTY CHIEF OF EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION SUES “GUNDALIK BAKU” NEWSPAPER

Yesterday, 17 November, in the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Abbas Rzayev, a hearing was held on the special format lawsuit of Saatli district Deputy Chief Executive Administration Ilham Guliyev against Gundalik Baki newspaper. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by the newspaper’s editor Edil Huseynli.

Gundelik Baku Newspaper Editor-in-chief Habil Valiyev spoke during the preliminary hearing and said that the plaintiff’s lawsuit is unfounded and biased. Valiyev refused to accept the lawyer appointed to him by the state.
The plaintiff’s representative said that the lawsuit is founded and fair, and requested that the case be taken for consideration.
Judge A.Rzayev scheduled the hearing on this case for 24 November at 4:30 p.m.
Saatli district Deputy Chief Executive Administration Ilham Guliyev filed a special format lawsuit in the Yasamal District Court under articles 147.1 (libel) and 148 (insult) of the Criminal Code against Gundalik Baki newspaper. The lawsuit stems from the article “Money ‘scandal’ in Saatli and the action of the Executive Administration Chief” that was published in Gundalik Baki newspaper on 10-17 November.
