EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATION PREVENTS MUSAVAT PARTY FROM CONDUCTING PICKET

Baku City Executive Administration (BCEA) did not give permission to Musavat Party to conduct picket scheduled to be held in front of Public TV’s office on 23 April. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by Arif Hajili, Head of Musavat Party Central Executive Administration.

According to Hajili, it is indicated in the answer submitted to Musavat Party from the Executive Administration that they do not consider conducting a picket advisable and the party should appeal to the National TV and Radio Council instead regarding this issue. The party will not hold an unsanctioned picket this time, but will do so in the next future if they do not get permission again, said A. Hajili.
Although several opposition representative are invited to Public TV’s programs, they are not satisfied with the time, added A. Hajili.
IRFS attempted to conduct BCEA and Public TV; however no one answered their phone calls during the day.
