EYNULLA FATULLAYEV DOES NOT BELIEVE HE WILL BE PARDONED

Imprisoned Editor-in-Chief "Gundelik Azerbayjan" and "Realny Azerbayjan" Newspapers Eynulla Fatullayev was visited by the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Committee against Torture Elchin Behbudov in Prison #12. Behbudov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that Fatullayev’s health is normal and he does not have any complaints about prison conditions.

E. Fatullayev receives many letters of support from foreign countries and international organizations. Eynulla Fatullayev does not believe there will be a pardon decree for Novruz holiday and is looking forward to the decision of the European Court, according to Behbudov.
Today, 5 March, Eynulla Fatullayev was visited by his father Emin Fatullayev. Emin Fatullayev also mentioned the letters of support coming to Eynulla’s address. These letters come from England Cambridge University, “Kings” College, “Raygate” School students and teachers, different youth organizations, social and religious figures and even from Zimbabwe.
Editor-in-Chief "Gundelik Azerbaijan" and "Realny Azerbayjan" Newspapers Eynulla Fatullayev was sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment on 21 April 2007 for insulting honor and dignity.  Later he was convicted under articles 214.1 (threatening terror), 283.2.2 (incitement of ethnic/national, social or religious hatred abusing authority), and 213.2.2 (tax evasion) of the Criminal Code and was sentenced to a total of 8.5 years of imprisonment on 30 October
