FOREIGN MUSIC VIDEOS WILL BE AIRED ON TV WITHOUT TRANSLATION

National Television and Radio Council Chairman Nushiravan Maharramli has announced that foreign music videos do not need to be translated. A decision was previously issued that as of 1 January 2009 all programs will have to be broadcast in Azeri, however it is now clear that this excludes music videos.

NTRC Chairman’s Assistant Togrul Mammedov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that when music videos are translated they turn out very bad and in a miserable state. “There is no need to translate foreign music videos that are from top to bottom curses and bad words,” said Mammedov, emphasizing that the leadership of TV channels should take notice of music videos that have curses and bad words.
