FORMER PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE APPEALS TO THE INTERIOR MINSTRY

Former parliamentary candidate Bakhtiyar Hajiyev appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs upon receiving threatening anonymous call, Hajiyev repotred to IRFS today, 20 December.

“Yesterday I received an anonymous call at 4.57 am. The call lasted 34 seconds. At first I didn’t understand what he meant, but later he said “Don’t end your youth” and hang up, ” said Hajiyev. He added that it was related to his political views and the recent political processes.
BACKGROUND
Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was first detained at the Azerbaijan-Georgia Border Crossing Station on November 18. After being detained in Border Crossing Station, he was taken to military unit # N located in Shamkir region. On 19th of November, he was taken to Ganja city, and passed between Nizami District Police Department, Ganja City Police Office, and Nizami District Military Commissariat. Then he was set free. Hajiyev said in a statement that “the military service is using political pressure to threaten me. It saddens me greatly that the Azerbaijani army is being used as an instrument of political punishment. I demand an end to this political pressure”.
