Fundraising marathon in support of Azadliq newspaper prove successful

A fundraising campaign has been started to raise donations and subscriptions for the opposition newspaper “Azadliq”, which is in a difficult financial situation under pressure from the authorities. The event took place in the headquarters of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party.

Hundreds of people, activists of opposition parties and civil society, intellectuals and ordinary citizens, came to support the newspaper.

Some contributors made donation up to 1,000 manat.  

First deputy editor of the newspaper Rahim Hajiyev has told IRFS the action has raised 13,500AZN and the newspaper will be published tomorrow, as an agreement has been reached with the publishing house.

Note that the publishing company “Azerbaijan” stopped printing the newspaper “Azadliq” on November 12, on the pretext of a debt in the amount of 25,000 manat.
