“Azadlig” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid’s rheumatism pain increased. Ayanda Mursalıyeva who visited her spouse Ganimat Zahid in prison #17 yesterday, 7 September, told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
Ganimat suffers from pain, but does not have any complaints against prison conditions, according to Mursaliyeva. However, he thinks that it is meaningless to appeal to the leadership of the prison in connection with this.
“Ganimat recalled that he appealed to the doctor last year when his pain worsened, but the doctor was not responsible enough. He thinks it will be the same if he appeals to them,” said A.Mursaliyeva adding that Ganimat is fasting despite the problems in his health.
Ganimat Zahid was convicted under articles 127.2.3 (hooliganism with intentional infliction of minor bodily harm) and 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code and imprisoned for four years.
