Today, 10 February, imprisoned “Azadlig” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ganimat Zahid turned 46. Zahid’s spouse Ayanda Mursaliyeva, who visited the journalist in connection with his birthday, said that his health is normal. G. Zahid received congratulations letters addressed to him and wished for his colleagues to be strong.
Ganimat Zahid was convicted under articles 127.2.3 (hooliganism with intentional infliction of minor bodily harm) and 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code and imprisoned for four years. The charges against Zahid are widely regarded as spurious.
