Yesterday, 1 February, Ayanda Mursaliyeva visited her husband, imprisoned Azadlig Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ganimat Zahid who is being treated in the Penitentiary Service’s Treatment Facility.
The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by A. Mursaliyeva.
Although Ganimat Zahid suffers from rheumatism pains, his health condition is normal and he doesn’t complain about prison conditions, according to Mursaliyeva.
Ganimat Zahid, who has been recognized as prisoner of conscience, was convicted under articles 127.2.3 (hooliganism with intentional infliction of minor bodily harm) and 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code and imprisoned for four years.
