HEARING CONTINUES ON BAKHTIYAR SADIGOV’S LAWSUIT AGAINST AZTV AND POLICE

Today, (10 September), in the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Elchin Gurbanov, a hearing was conducted on the lawsuit of parliamentarian Bakhtiyar Sadigov against the Baku City Police Department, Baku City Road Police and Azerbaijan State Tele-radio Company (AZTV).

The plaintiff’s defense lawyer Altay Muradov, defendant Ramazan Mutallibov’s defense lawyer Adalat Sadigov, Road Police Department representative Faig Aliyev and AZTV’s representative Sadraddin Isgandarov participated in the hearing.

Ramazan Mutallibov said that he received instructions from the leadership about commenting on the footage broadcast on AZTV. He stated that the footage was received through a management system created in Baku city by the Baku State Road Police Department (BSRPD) to regulate road traffic.

AZTV’s representative Isgandarov said that the State TV and Radio Company broadcasts this program on the basis of a decision of BSRPD.

After listening to both sides, Judge Gurbanov scheduled the next hearing for 11 September at 10:00 a.m.

The road police regularly broadcast footages on road violations in Baku on AZTV with commentary from Ramazan Mutallibov. Parliamentarian Aliyev’s car was also shown during one of these programs. Aliyev, evaluating this as damaging to his honor and dignity, appealed to court.

Several days ago, Aliyev stated that he did not sue AZTV. However, it was evident during the hearing that AZTV is among defendants.
