Today, 11 February, in the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Tahir Ismayilov, a preliminary hearing was held on the lawsuit put forth by Head of Caucasus Muslims Department Sheykul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade against "Gundalik Baki" Newspaper to defend his honor and dignity.
The defendant, "Gundalik Baki" Newspaper's Founder and Editor-in-Chief Habil Valiyev, asked the judge to postpone the preliminary hearing to hire a lawyer. Considering Valiyev’s request, Judge T. Ismayilov postponed the preliminary hearing until 19 February, at 4:00 p.m.
A. Pashazade filed a lawsuit against "Gundalik Baki" Newspaper due to article “Narcotics Itinerary in the South – 2” published in the newspaper on 14 January, 2009. Pashazade claims that his honor and dignity was damaged and demands that the newspaper publish a refutation and apologize.
