HEARING HELD AGAINST “YENI CHAG”, “ELCHİ” AND “HUNER MEYDANI” NEWSPAPERS

Today, 2 June, in the Baku Appellate Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Aflatun Gasimov, a hearing took place on the appeal of Gazakh region residents Vidadi Yusifov and Terane Yusifova.

Defendant “Yeni Chag” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Agil Alasgar (Farajov) and his lawyer Agalar Agashirinov participated in the hearing. Plaintiffs V.Yusifov and T.Yusifova did not take part in the hearing.
Judge A.Gasimov said that the court received an official telegraph from the plaintiffs stating that they are ready to sign a settlement. The next hearing on this appeal is now scheduled to take place on 14 July at 3:00 p.m.
This lawsuit stems from article “Owner from Gazakh” that was published in all three articles. The plaintiffs appealed to the Narimanov District Court claiming that their honor and dignity were damaged, and they demand that all defendants publish a refutation and be fined. After the Appellate Court annulled the decision of the first instance court, the plaintiffs filed a cassation complaint in the Supreme Court. Then the case was sent back to the Appellate Court to be reconsidered.
