Representatives for the defense said that on the basis of appeals to the Press Council about “Korrupsiya va Jamiyyet” Journal, the Council conducted an investigation and then adopted a decision to include the publication in the list of “racketeering media.”
The judge issued an order for the Press Council to present the approved version of the structures charter to court and scheduled the next hearing on this case for 29 June at 4 p.m.
“Korrupsiya va Jamiyyet” Journal was included on the list of ‘racketeering newspapers unveiled recently by Azerbaijan’s Press Council. M. Ahmedoglu says that his journal is not involved in racketeering. Therefore he has appealed to the Binagadi District Court asking the Press Council to publish a refutation and pay 250,000 AZN for moral damages.
