Today (30 April) in the Yasamal District Court a preliminary hearing on the lawsuit of the Defense Ministry Apartment Exploitation Unit soldier Mursalov Fardi Teyyub oglu against “Gundalik Baki” Neewspaper for moral damages was conducted under the chairmanship of Judge Khagani Tagiyev without the participation of the plaintiff.
The Editor-in-chief of the newspaper Habil Valiyev didn’t object to the hearing being conducted without the participation of the plaintiff.
The next hearing is scheduled to 26 May at 12:00 pm.
Recall that this lawsuit stems from an article titled “Mehman Hajiyev’s Illegal Actions are Endless,” which was published in the newspaper on 8 April 2008. The soldier claims that the article doesn’t conform to any facts, and he and his parents are concerned about the article. He is now seeking to have the newspaper to publish a refutation and also wants a 50,000 AZN fine instituted against the newspaper.
