HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDER`S APPEAL NOT GRANTED

On May 10th, the Baku Appeals Court did not fulfill the appeal of human rights defender Vidadi Isgnadarov against the Nasimi District Court's May 2nd judgment. Judge Sahibkhan Mirzeyev presided over the hearing.

The lawyer said that this is the final decision of the court. It is impossible to appeal against this decision to Supreme Court.
Human rights defender Vidadi Isgandarov was arrested during the 17 April 2011 opposition protests in Sahil Park. He was subsequently sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention.  A criminal case was launched against him on 2 May. He was sentenced to two months of pre-trial detention for interference in 2010 parliamentary elections.
