Nakhchivan City resident, 57 years old Mahammad Gurbanov, who was placed in the Psychiatric Hospital in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic 20 days ago, is not allowed to meet with his family and relatives.
IRFS Nakhchivan Regional Correspondent was told this by M.Gurbanov`s wife Farida Ismayilova.
On 30 September Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Democracy and NGO Development Resource Center addressed an appeal to international and local Human Rights organizations regarding M.Gurbanov’s situation. In the appeal, the Human Rights Organizations are called on to protest against violation of rights in the human rights sector in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

“If the injustices that are taking place in Nakhchivan now are not responded to in a timely manner, this repressive method will be implemented in the capital and other regions of Azerbaijan,” it is said in the appeal.
Nakhchivan City resident, owner, second degree invalid, Mahammad Gurbanov was placed in a psychiatric hospital on 11 September 2009 by the employees of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Internal Affairs Ministry because of his complaint to upper instances, governmental organizations, and his communication with press about corruption and shortcomings in the work of Sadarak customs station.
