Yesterday, 30 September, during the meeting of Milli Mejlis, on the basis of adoption of changes and additions to the law “On Public TV and Radio Broadcasting,” the financing of the Public TV from the state budget was extended until 2014.
The Public TV and Radio Broadcasting Company, which was created in 2005, should have switched to self-financing as of 1 January 2010, and the allocation from the state budget should be ceased.
According to other changes to this law, the Broadcasting Council will be assembled once every six months, not once every two months, and the Chief Director of Public TV will be entitled to appoint and free his deputies.

13,54 million AZN has been allocated from the state budget of 2009 to maintain Public TV.
