Day.az and its English-language sister site today.az have a new director.
Former founder of these sites Anar Mammedkhanov told this to “Lent.az” site. Mammadkhanov stated that the new founder of the project is an NGO. Although Mammadkhanov declined to comment on the name of the NGO, he revealed that “Trend” Information-analytics Agency Director Ilgar Huseynov will be the new director of “Day.az” site.
Day.az and Today.az websites stopped working on 18 February. At that time both the founder A.Mammedkhanov and Editor-in-Chief Baimov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) that the sites’ closures were technical in nature and both would reopen on 25 February, however the activities of neither site have been restored.
