An incident took place during May 1 hearing on the case of journalist Parviz Hashimli and his alleged accomplice Tavakkul Gurbanov.
Tavakkul Gurbanov accused Hashimli of insulting him and his family in public media. Hashimli denied it saying that he has not been working as a journalist since he was arrested.
At this point Gurbanov attacked Hashimli from behind bars trying to punch him. Court guards calmed him down.
Hashimli’s petition for involvement of additional witnesses was dismissed.
While commenting on his petitions, Hashimli said that while at the Ministry of National Security he was offered one million dollar for testifying against general Nagiyev and Azeryolservis Company director Javid Gurbanov.
Note that Hashimli felt unwell during the trial and took tranquilizer.
The next hearing on the case will be held on May 5.

Main Investigation Department of MNS launched a case against him with three articles of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code: Article 206.3.2 (smuggling of firearms on preliminary arrangement by an organized group), 228.2.1 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation and carrying of firearms, their accessories, supplies and explosives by an organized group) and 228.2.2 (the same acts committed repeatedly).
