INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY CONCERNED ABOUT ARREST OF YOUTH

On 22 July, the European Union released a statement expressing concern about the arrest of Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade. EU notes that the organization joins the calls of international community to hold legal procedures fair and transparent.

 

 “We want to remind Azerbaijan of its participation in OSCE, its membership to the Council of Europe, the democratic principles within its relations with the European Union, the country’s commitment regarding state management, supremacy of law, independent court system, human rights and fundamental rights.”

The European Union called on Azerbaijan authorities to take legal steps in compliance with Azerbaijan’s commitments in connection with the case of Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade.

On Friday, during the meeting of the OSCE Committee, OSCE US Mission Head Kayl Scott issued a statement regarding the violations of freedom of expression and fundamental human rights in Azerbaijan.

It is said in the statement, “The US is very concerned about the arrest of young bloggers E.Milli and A.Hajizade. We call insistently on Azerbaijan’s government to free E.Milli and A.Hajizade before court trial and to provide them with medical and legal assistance.”
