The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) addressed an appeal to the President Ilham Aliyev, Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfaz Garayev and the heads of the executive administrations of Baku City and Sabail District about erecting a monument in honor of the late Editor-in-Chief of the “Monitor” Journal Elmar Huseynov
In the appeal, IRFS requested that a monument in memory of Elmar Huseynov be erected in “Sahil” Garden in the Sabail District. Repair work is being carried out there now.
In August 2007, IRFS conducted a signature campaign of people who support creating a monument in memory of Elmar Huseynov. Five hundred sixty four (564) citizens gave their support to this campaign.
