IRFS LAUNCHES YOUTH MEDIA CENTER PROJECT

Today the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety presented a new project, the Youth Media Center (YMC)

According to project manager Emin Huseynov, the Youth Media Center will function according to the principle “What do the youth want?” and  will have a positive effect on the development of the civil journalism. After gaining experience at the YMC, young people will be able to find employment in professional media organizations.

The Center has been provided with modern equipment, and will provide a space for social activities and personal development for youth.

Young people will receive training by local and international professionals twice a week and learn media ethics. Various competitions are also planned to stimulate members of the media center.

The six month project is supported by IREX, and the Denmark-based International Media Support organization, a public union which supports local NGOs in the countries were the media works in difficult situations.

IMS Program Manager for Azerbaijan Gulnara Akhundova  and IREX representative Alasgar Mammadli also spoke in support of the project.
