IRFS WILL OFFER FREE WEBJOURNALISM TRAINING IN AUGUST

From 4-22 August 2008 the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety, with funding from the Council of Europe, will be conducting webjournalism training for bloggers, online journalists, newspapers with websites and online news agencies.

The training, which is free, will take place Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the press center of the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety, and will cover a wide variety of topics including placing photos and video online, working with Youtube, blogging, website design and online marketing for media institutions.

The first week of the training will be conducted by IRFS’ own IT expert, the second week by a local expert and the third week by Anton Chiriaev from Radio Liberty in Prague. The training will also include training on local legislation governing the media and professional reporting skills. These parts of the training will be carried out by Baku State University Journalism Professor Zeynal Mammedli and Media Rights Institute Director Rashid Hajili.

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a diploma.
