The Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic correspondent Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev, who was beaten on 31 January, while fulfilling his professional duties, has appealed to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Internal Affairs Minister A.Ahmadov, Nakhchivan Internal Affairs Ministry’s Investigator Hikmat Aliyev, Nakhchivan’s Chief Prosecutor Sabuhi Shahverdiyev and Nakhchivan’s Prosecutor’s Office today.
H.Mehdiyev told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that he took this step because Ismayil Ismayilov, who insulted H. Mehdiyev and hit him in the face with a ceramic ashtray, has not been punished yet although a month has passed since the incident. And Mehdiyev has not been informed whether a criminal case was opened regarding the incident. I.Ismayilov is free and continues to threaten the journalist.

Someone named Ismayil Ismayilov insulted H. Mehdiyev using inappropriate language. Then that person hit H. Mehdiyev in the face with a ceramic ashtray. As a result, Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev sustained injuries around his eye.
