JOURNALIST UNABLE TO GET A PASSPORT

Anar Mahmudoglu (Niftaliyev) cannot get a passport because the Garadag District Court has refused to close his case.

In 2008, Mahmudoglu was charged with falsifying details of the editing of his book, Bir omurluk kitab (A Lifelong Struggle). The court ruled that his naming of Huseyn Ismayilov (Director of Azerbaijan National Sciences Academy Folklore Institute) as the editor of his book was false. The court ordered that all copies be destroyed.
When IRFS spoke with the journalist, he said: “I have been trying to get a final ruling 3 months and 10 days. I had only one remaining book, and I presented it to the court executor. However, they are refusing to give me an act of execution for the court decision.” It is this act of execution that is necessary for Mahmudoglu to get a passport.
Court executor Huseyn Veysiyev blames the journalist for the difficulties he is having. “[Mahmudoglu ] must submit a document proving that he has officially apologized to Huseyn Ismayilov for incorrectly introducing him as the  book editor, and the remaining copies of the book should be presented to the court. Only after this, he will be provided with an act of execution,” said Veysiyev.
