JOURNALIST’S COMPLAINT CONSIDERED

Today, under the chairmanship of Nasimi District Court Judge Mammad Mammadov, a preliminary court hearing took place on the lawsuit for inactivity in response to an information request against the Chairperson of the State Commission on Student Admission Maleyka Abbaszade put forth by "Bizim Yol" Newspaper correspondent Natig Adilov (Gulahmadoglu).

The judge clarified the rights and duties of both parties. Then N. Adilov put forth a petition to clarify why the letter sent to him by the court didn't reach him on time. The defendant’s representative Narmina Bayramova stated that the lawsuit was groundless because they sent a reply to the inquiry. Later she introduced the reply letter to the court. However there was no post stamp or address on the letter. The plaintiff asked the court to take this into consideration.
The next hearing on this case is scheduled for 30 March at 10:00 a.m.
Recall that on 29 November 2007 Adilov sent an information request to State Commission on Student Admission about how Roya Najafova (Roya Aykhan) was admitted to the Baku State University. However the inquiry went unanswered. Adilov demands the court to accept a resolution that would make Maleyka Abbaszade answer the questions of the inquiry in details, and adopt a special decision about the person, who violated the law, under the article 265.1 of the Civil Procedural Code of Azerbaijan.
