Journalists face pressure in front of Presidential Administration

On November 15th Yeni Musavat newspaper correspondent Emil Salamoglu, Radio Liberty reporter Araz Bayramov, IRFS reporter Fergane Novruzova and Election Monitoring and Democracy Studies Center correspondent Mahammad Ilyasoglu were pressured by the employees of the Main Security Department, while performing their professional duties.

The four journalists were covering the protest held by the defrauded clients of Alasgaroglu-K Construction Company in front of the Presidential Administration when they were suddenly assaulted by Main Security Department employees. Their photo and video cameras were confiscated and returned only after the photos and video footages had been deleted from their memory sticks.

This is not the first occasion that journalists have faced pressure in front of the Presidential Administration. However no one has even been held accountable for such illegal actions.
