JOURNALISTS HARRASSED BY SUMGAYIT POLICE INVITED TO MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS

Today, May 17th, Turan Information Agency correspondent Parvana Bayramova, Azadliq newspaper correspondent Natig Adilov, Institute for Reporters` Freedom  and Safety employee Fargana Novruzova and Radio Liberty employee Esmira Javadova gave statements at the Internal Investigations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

On 4 May, when they were filming the protests after the trial of APFP Youth Member Jabbar Savalanli, they were physically assaulted by police and undercover agents.
The Chief of the Internal Investigations Department Mohubbat Huseynov said that investigation is underway and relevant measures will be taken against the police employees who used pressure against the journalists.
IRFS filed an appeal to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in connection with the harassment of journalists.
