The board of the "Freedom of Speech and Assistance Fund to Protect Journalists'" conducted a meeting on16 February to consider appeals from journalists for financial assistance.
According to a press release received by the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety from the fund, it considered four appeals for January and February and decided to allocated 1000USD in assistance.
Three-hundred USD was given to the family of imprisoned "Azadlig" Newspaper correspondent Mirza Sakit, 300USD was given to "Yeni Musavat" newspaper to hire a lawyer, 200 USD to "Yeni Musavat's correspondent Hekim Eldostu, and 200 USD to "Ayna" newspaper's employee Sadraddin Ismayilov who recently lost his job.
