JUDGMENT ON LAWSUIT AGAINST JOURNALIST CHANGED

The 14 December 2010 decision of Masalli Regional Court on Azerbaijani MP Novruzali Aslanov’s lawsuit against Tribune News Agency (www.tia.az) editor-in-chief Alisir Ahad has been substantially changed, Ahad reported to IRFS.

 “I saw several changes when I read the judgment. The compensation was reduced to 10,000 AZN, whereas the 14 December judgment ruled for 20,000 AZN,” Ahad said.
BACKGROUND
MP Novruzali Aslanov filed a lawsuit against the journalist claiming his honor and dignity was insulted in the article “Stone competes against rock in election constituency #86” published in the website (tia.az) of the Tribune news agency. The lawsuit called  for the payment of a 20,000 AZN fine under Article 147.1 of Criminal Code.
