On 5 March, in the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of judge Khagani Tagiyev, a preliminary hearing was held on the special format lawsuit of “Council for Textbook Evaluation” operating under Ministry of Education against expert on textbooks Alovsat Osmanli.
The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by Alovsat Osmanli. He said that their motion regarding the participation of the defendants in the preliminary hearing was not fulfilled and the lawsuit was taken for consideration.
The members of the Council for Textbook Evaluation appealed to the Yasamal District Court regarding the sentence in A.Osmanli’s series of articles related to the problems in education in Azadlig newspaper, “The Council for Textbook Evaluation commits falsification in choosing textbook sets” under article 147.1 of the Criminal Code.
