Lawsuit of IRFS against Ministry of Justice denied

On July 27th the Baku Administrative-Economical Court #2 under presiding judge Rustam Karimli held a hearing on the lawsuit filed by the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) against the Ministry of Justice.

The legal representative of the plaintiff attended the hearing, whereas the legal representative of the defendant was absent.
According to IRFS legal representative Gunay Ismayilova,, the Ministry of Justice ‘s warning to IRFS is absolutely illegal. “The Ministry of Justice made a warning to us, although our documents were accurate.  The Ministry alleges that we did not notify them of the changes in the founding documents, while we did not make any changes. Not the least we presented our founding documents to the Ministry when we changed our legal address. The warning by the Ministry is illegal and we ask the court to declare it void” said Ismayilova.
After a deliberation the judge denied the lawsuit.
The Ministry of Justice issued a warning to the IRFS on January 2012, alleging that organization had not notified the Ministry of the changes in the founding documents. IRFS appealed to the court considering this warning illegal.
