Yesterday, 27 May, lawyer Rashid Hajili, who is also the director of Media Rights Institute, visited imprisoned “Azadlig” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid in Prison #17.
The Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety was told this by R. Hajili.
“Ganimat did not complain about his health or prison conditions,” said Hajili. “We talked about his unfounded arrest, the destruction of his manuscripts and the investigation conducted on his case.”
Ganimat Zahid was convicted under articles 127.2.3 (hooliganism with intentional infliction of minor bodily harm) and 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code and imprisoned for four years.
