Ilham Suleymanov, 7gun.az news portal correspondent to the Saatli region, faced pressure, the portal’s editor-in-chief, Amid Mammadov, told IRFS today (October 10).
According to the editor-in-chief, Suleymanov was targeted by the head of Executive Power of Saatli region, Sirajaddin Jabbarov and the police chief Jabrayil Valiyev, for bringing recent problems in the region to the attention of local media.
“The head of the Executive Power of the Saatli regon summoned the journalist to his office, and showing the article “Emergency situation in Saatli region” , published in Bizim Yol newspaper on August 25, 2011, he threatened the journalist that he will be arrested if he continues to write such articles. Several days ago, the police chief Jabrayil Valiyev summoned Suleymanov and said that he will have to leave the region, if he gives further information to the media,” editor-in-chief Anar Mammadov said.
