Mammadov said that there are no expressions insulting the journalist’s honor and dignity in the letter as the journalist indicated. “The articles written by Yashar Agazade are discussed in the letter, not his personality,” he said.
Then the judge told the expert to submit his opinion to the court in the written form.
The next hearing on this case is scheduled for 7 May at 2:00 p.m.
Recall that Agazade sent an inquiry to Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov to get information about housekeeping affairs of BSU. Instead of replying to the inquiry, the Ministry of Finance appealed to BSU and received a letter signed by Maharramov stating that the journalist was the author of biased articles. The letter was given to Agazade. That is why Agazade appealed to the court and is seeking for a refutation from Maharramov and for a 1000 AZN fine to be instituted against him. He wants the sum to be transferred to the Assistance Fund for Armed Forces of Azerbaijan Republic.
