According to the journalist, on 27 January, a group of Nova-Saratovka residents appealed to "MilAz" Information Agency. The appeal was related to the illegal construction of shops and banquet halls adjacent to the military unit by the commander.
"Asif Farajov told me during a telephone call that he was the owner of a substantial plot of land and asked how we dared to give information about him, and he also threatened me with a court case, " stressed A. Sumerenli.
Timur Abdullayev, the Deputy Chief of Press Service in the Defense Ministry stated that the commander of the military unit had not threatened the journalist. He told IRFS correspondent over the phone, "I have spoken with the commander. He has just advised the journalist to publish information after inspection and stated that would appeal to the court for issuing unverified information."
