Imprisoned “Bizim yol” Newspaper correspondent Mushfig Huseynov is receiving medical treatment Prison #3. M. Huseynov’s relative Javidan Huseynov told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
“Mushfig Huseynov called home yesterday at 4:50. He didn’t complain about prison conditions,” said J.Huseynov. “Mushfig said he is not able to make phone calls more often now due to his treatment.”
Mushfig Huseynov, who is being held in Prison #2, was transferred to Treatment Prison #3 two weeks ago because of his health.
Mushfig Huseynov was convicted under Article 311.1 (receiving of a bribe) of the Criminal Code and on 21 January 2008 was sentenced by Grave Crimes Court Judge Jamal Ramazanov to 6 years of imprisonment, followed by 2 year ban on his writing activity. However, this sentence was reduced to 5 years through a decision adopted by Appellate Court Judge Sahibkhan Mirzayev on 4 April 2008.
