“NOVOYE VREMYA” NEWSPAPER FOUNDER’S APPEAL NOT FULFILLED

Yesterday, 10 September, in the Baku Appellate Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Sagi Mammadov, a hearing took place on the appeal against the verdict of the Yasamal District Court adopted on “Yeni Zaman” Party Chairman Musa Agayev’s  lawsuit against the Justice Ministry. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by lawyer Elchin Sadigov.

According to E.Sadigov, the judge did not fulfill the appeal and upheld the decision of the Yasamal District Court. The lawyer added that they will file a cassation complaint.
The party, which was established by “Novoye Vremya” newspaper’s (Russian language newspaper published in Azerbaijan) founder Musa Agayev, appealed to court because of the failure of the Justice Ministry not to register it in 2 years. The Yasamal District Court did not fulfill the lawsuit on 3 June 2009.
