Opposition activists harassed in Mingechevir

 

 

On 24 August, a Mingechevir-based member of the opposition Popular Front Party (PFP), Emil Jafarli, and his brother were summoned to the police office. Jafarli’s brother, Parvin Jafarov, was arrested for 20 days, and Jafarli’s wife was dismissed from her job on 25 August.

 

On 25 August, another PFP member, Gara Allahverdiyev, the Chair of the Mingechevir City branch of the PFP Youth Committee, was detained and sentenced to 20 days of detention by the Mingechevir City Court.
