“PARALEL” NEWSPAPER EMPLOYEE PRESSURED

Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic “Paralel” Newspaper Correspondent Yafas Hasanov is facing harassment.

The Institute for Reporters` Freedom and Safety was told this by Yasaf Hasanov.
Yafas Hasanov said that he began to face pressure when he worked as a regional correspondent for the “Gundalik Azerbaijan” newspaper. Pressure against him intensified after the closure of “Gundalik Azerbaijan” newspaper.
“As a result of this, I had to leave my house in Kangarli region, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and come to Baku with my family,” said Y.Hasanov. “But after the move, I still faced harassment from the Law Enforcement Organs several times. My relatives who lived in my house in Nakhchivan also faced harassment. Kangarli District Executive Administration Deputy Head Karim Gazibayov told my relatives that this house belongs to a journalist who is the enemy of the government, that they should not stay in his house, and that they should refuse to have a relationship with me.”
Y.Hasanov emhasized that this problem remains unsolved.
Although IRFS tried to contact the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Kangarli District Executive Administration Deputy Head K.Gazibayov on this issue, our calls were not returned.
