Karabakh Liberation Organization Chairman (KLO) Akif Nagi who beat "Yeni Musavat" column writer Zamin Haji (Hajiyev) has not been involved in investigation yet. According to “Yeni Musavat” newspaper, the Binagadi District Prosecutor’s Office, which is conducting the investigation, refused to give broad information on the case.
The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety sent an information inquiry to the prosecutor’s office to obtain information regarding the progress into the case. However, the inquiry has not been responded yet.
On 12 December KLO Chairman A.Nagi along with several people attacked “Yeni Musavat” editorial office, insulted the newspapers employee Z.Haji and used physical pressure against him. This stemmed from Z.Haji’s article entitled “Dialogue between two deaf” published in the same day edition of “Yeni Musavat” newspaper where critical thoughts about KLO Chairman A.Nagi were expressed.
A criminal case has been opened in the Binagadi District Court under article 163.1 (interference in legal work of journalist) of the Criminal Code in connection with the incident.
