Press Freedom Walk – dedicated to National Press Day

On July 22, media representatives and free press advocates will join to the first ever Press Freedom to remind about importance of freedom of press.

This is how IRFS suggests marking the National Press Day in the country where press freedom is constantly under the threat..
 
The walk will commence at 11:00am from the front of the first Alley of Honor.
 
From 11:10am until 11:30am the participants will visit the grave of Hasan bay Zardabi, the founder of the Azerbaijan’s National Press who was buried in the first Alley of Honor.
The participants will then walk to the second Alley of Honor.
At 11:45am the group will visit the grave of Monitor magazine editor-in-chief Elmar Huseynov, who was murdered in 2005 and buried in the second Alley of Honor.
At 12:00pm the group will visit the grave of Najaf Najafov, who is one of the creators of modern Azerbaijani journalism.
The walk will continue to the Alley of Martyrs.
At 12:30pm the graves of Chingiz Mustafayev, Salatin Askerova, Ali Mustafayev, Arif Huseynli and other media representatives will be visited.
The walk will end at 1:00pm.
