Today, 21 April, in the Surakhani District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Nuraddin Mustafayev, a hearing took place on the lawsuit against citizen Sayyara Heydarova under article 221.1 (hooliganism, violating public order, expressing disrespect in society openly, using force or threatening to use force on citizens, and destruction of private property) of the Criminal Code.
Witnesses were interrogated during the hearing. They said they did not remember some things since four years has passed since the incident that the lawsuit is based on. S. Heydarova complained about the work of the state plaintiff and put forth a motion to substitute him for somebody else. However, the judge denied the motion saying that it was unsubstantiated.
The state prosecutor Aydin Aliyev requested that S. Heydarova be imprisoned for 4.5 years.
Judge N.Mustafayev said a verdict will be announced on 22 April at 9:30 a.m.
Sayyara Heydarova is accused of beating four men and was previously being held in prison in pre-trial detention until she was released before International Women’s Day (March 8) in 2008.
