"Since the 2007 Spring session of the Milli Mejlis there have been restrictions on the mass media's ability to the cover the activities of the Milli Mejlis," Election Monitoring Center Executive Director Anar Mammedli said during a press conference in which the center introduced a report on citizen's monitoring of parliament.
"The journalists have told us this themselves."
One of the paragraphs in the final report is called Public Enlightenment on the Activity of Milli Mejlis. In that section it is noted that live broadcasts from the sessions of Milli Mejlis and Permanent Committees is prohibited for TV channels. A video-montage account is prepared in a studio of the parliament and then distributed to TV channels. Issues have also been reported with the audio-visual duplication of deputies' speeches.
