Today in the press center of the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety, “Regional Security Institute” conducted a roundtable on the theme “Israeli-Azerbaijani relations.” Experts, and Democratic Reforms Party Chairman, Parliamentarian Asim Mollazade participated in the event.
A. Mollazade talked about socio-economic and political relations between Azerbaijan and Israel, and said that the relations between the two countries are formed and develop in friendly partnership framework. Therefore, Mollazade noted that the awaited trip of Israeli President Shimon Peres to Azerbaijan is normal and Iran’s objection to this visit is irrelevant.
“Khural” Newspaper Editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli said that Azerbaijan is an independent country and has sovereign rights to form and develop relations with foreign countries. Noting that Iran has been improving relation with Armenia, which invaded Azeri lands, and therefore it does not have moral right to tell Azerbaijan with whom to be friends or enemies.
Other participants of the roundtable condemned Iran’s statements in connection with Peres’ visit to Azerbaijan and called on Iran not to interfere with the internal affairs of a neighbor country.
