On 6 January, lawyer Bahruz Bayramov met with jailed former investigator Rufat Safarov at the Baku Detention Centre.
“I met with Rufat Safarov. He confirmed the reports about him sharing the cell with a particularly dangerous recidivist who has served 25 years in prison. He said there could be no good intentions behind such a move. According to Rufat Safarov, his cellmate has been in jail since 1992. Despite being released several times since then, he has committed several crimes shortly after being released and had to return to prison. Last time, he was imprisoned by the decision of Nasimi District Court in the summer of 2016,” the lawyer noted.
Lawyer Bahruz Bayramov said putting this man in his client’s cell was an unlawful action.
