STATE CENSORSHIP BEING RESURRECTED IN AZERBAIJAN

Today "Radio Liberty" reported that a letter signed by Presidential Administration Socio-Political Department Ali Hasanov has been sent to all publishing houses in Azerbaijan.

According to the letter, the presidential administration must be informed about all publications about former president Heydar Aliyev, incumbent president Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyev prior to their printing. Only after the administration examines the publication, will it be considered acceptable for printing.
Recall that censorship in Azerbaijan was formally abolished in 1998, after Azerbaijan gained its independence.
