TERM OF PROBABTION FOR “RADIO LIBERTY” CORRESPONDENT ENDS

The one-year term of probation given to “Radio Liberty” correspondent Ilgar Nasibov on 18 December 2009 is over.

Nakhchivan City Court’s Head Officer Elman Galandarov told this to the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety. “The punishment term of Ilgar Nasibov who was sentenced to corrective labor on 10 December 2007 by the decision of Nakhchivan city Court ended on 18 January 2009. Nasibov obeyed discipline and passed through registration in the court in time. He has not committed any incident during this one year,” said E.Galandarov.
Recall that on 6 December 2007 “Radio Liberty” correspondent Ilgar Nasibov was arrested for three months on the special lawsuit of Nakhchivan city Police Department Chief Sabuhi Novruzov. On 10 December Appellate Court issued a decision to free Nasibov, however he was sentenced to one year of conditional punishment illegally under article 147.2 (slander accusing someone of committing a grave or especially grave crime) by Nakhchivan city Court on the lawsuit of  Nakhchivan State University Rector, Parliamentarian Isa Habibbayli and the employees of the same university Emin Ujar and Nizami Aloyev, Nakhchivan AR Internal minister’s brother Akbar Ahmadov.
