On March 27, the Baku Serious Crimes Court held a preparatory meeting on the case of the head of the “Khural TV” Internet resource Avaz Zeynalli and the CEO of youtube “Sada TV” channel Elnur Shukurov.
Representatives of the media were not allowed to attend the meeting.
During the meeting, the defense made a motion to hold a meeting in the great hall, return the case to the preliminary investigation, etc., lawyer Agyl Laidj told reporters. However, the court dismissed the petitions.
Zeynalli pleaded not guilty at the trial. He said that he is not an official, because the charge of taking a bribe is not consistent.
Zeynalli also drew attention to the fact that he was arrested together with lawyer Elchin Sadygov, and the investigation claimed that they had received a bribe together. “But his case has been separated into a separate proceeding and he is free. Why? Were we accused together?”, – Zeynalli said.
The hearing on the merits is scheduled for April 10.
