Today, 2 June, in the Khatai District Court, a preliminary hearing was held on three lawsuits filed in special format against “Nota” newspaper. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by Nota” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Substitute Sardar Alibeyli.
“The lawsuit of Internal Army Commander, General-Lieutenant Zakir Hasanov was considered by Judge Habil Mammadov; the lawsuit of Internal Army Deputy Commander Fakhraddin Samadov was considered by Judge Leyla Talibova; and the lawsuit of Internal Army Department Head on Personal Staff, Colonel Nasir Huseynov was considered by Judge Saadat Salimova,” said S.Alibeyli. “All three judges decided to send the lawsuits to the Nizami District Court because “Nota” newspaper is located in Nizami region.”
All three plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit against Sardar Alibeyli in the special format under article 147.2 (libel in accusing someone of grave or especially grave crime) of the Criminal Code claiming that the articles about the Internal troops published in the latest editions of the newspaper contained writings damaging to their honor and dignity and their reputation.
